Summer is when San Antonio bugs push hardest. Bob Jenkins Pest Control can set up service before the July and August peak.
Mosquito season peaks in July
Across the 12 months from October 2025 through September 2026, there were 4,844 completed mosquito treatment visits in the San Antonio area. June through September accounted for 2,854 of them, or 58.9%. July was the busiest month at 16.4% of the year, followed by June at 15.2% and August at 14.8%.
The off season is short and quiet. December, January and February together held 147 visits, just 3.0% of the year. Visits picked back up in March, which carried 7.1% of the year, and climbed every month from there until July.
| Month | San Antonio share of mosquito visits | San Antonio pest callbacks per 100 routine visits |
|---|---|---|
| January | 1.2% | 2.5 |
| February | 0.7% | 3.4 |
| March | 7.1% | 3.9 |
| April | 9.5% | 3.1 |
| May | 10.8% | 3.3 |
| June | 15.2% | 9.4 |
| July | 16.4% | 10.6 |
| August | 14.8% | 12.6 |
| September | 12.6% | 6.9 |
| October | 8.7% | 5.4 |
| November | 2.0% | 4.2 |
| December | 1.2% | 2.9 |
People sign up a month before the peak
We also counted homes that started mosquito service in 2026, meaning their first completed mosquito visit since January 2025 fell in that month. Of 420 new starts from January through September 2026, 131 came in June, or 31%. March through June together brought in 68% of the year's new starts.
Treatment visits peak in July, so the rush to get help lands about a month before the worst of the season. Starting in April or May puts a yard on a schedule before June's wave rather than in the middle of it.
Bugs come back between treatments most often in August
For regular general pest service, we counted callbacks: return visits between scheduled treatments because insects showed up again. That rate is a good read on how hard pests are pushing on houses.
From December 2025 through February 2026, there were 2.9 callbacks for every 100 routine pest visits (87 against 2,969). From June through August 2026, the rate was 10.8 per 100 (306 against 2,841), and August alone reached 12.6. The previous year followed the same shape: 2.7 per 100 in January and February 2025, and 17.0 per 100 from May through July 2025.
In both years, the jump came with the first stretch of real heat. If ants or roaches are going to break through a treated perimeter in San Antonio, it is most likely to happen in midsummer.
Fire ants are a spring problem
In calendar 2025 there were 158 completed fire ant treatment visits in the San Antonio area. March, April and May held 68 of them, or 43%, and March through July held 92, or 58%. April was the busiest single month.
Mounds tend to show up after spring rain and warming soil, and the visit counts line up with that. A yard treated in early spring is ahead of the busiest stretch.
How we counted
The sample is 66,789 completed service visits in the San Antonio area from January 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026; 36,801 of them fall in the 12 months from October 2025 through September 2026 used for the monthly shares. Cancelled and rescheduled appointments were left out. Fire ant figures use calendar 2025 so that each month appears once.
Visits were grouped by the service performed: mosquito treatments, fire ant treatments, routine general pest service, and callback visits between scheduled pest treatments. A month's share is that month's visits divided by the year's total for the same service. Visit counts measure when treatments happened, which follows when homeowners want relief, so they describe pest season as people experience it rather than a trap count. We do not publish a figure for any city, ZIP code or group of months with fewer than 30 visits behind it.
